Maronti beach
Considered among the most beautiful on the island of Ischia, south-facing Maronti Beach nestles between the headland of ‘Punta della Signora’ to the East and the promontory of Sant’Angelo.
Beyond the beach there are typical restaurants, hotel and spa complexes, small public gardens and the piazzetta with its café, boutique and newspaper stand, and ranks for buses, taxis and the island’s distinctive microtaxis.
Maronti - ancient Greek for tranquil beaches - where the sea meets the coast forming a bay of dreams, is a special place of natural beauty; in front of such a spectacle you might feel isolated, in reality it’s simple to reach the other places on the island from here.
From the adjacent piazzetta (the little square above the beach) public transport services link to Ischia Porto (just 5 miles/8 km) where you can go shopping, find bars with Neapolitan music, discotheques. Or, from the beach, you can take a taxi boat and cross the bay to Sant’Angelo, an archetypal fishing village, and wander through its winding alleyways in search of a particular item of clothing, a special piece of jewellery or just sit sipping coffee at a bar in its small piazzetta.
For anyone who loves the sea, the sun and the health-giving powers of thermal waters, Maronti is the ideal place to spend a vacation.
